De Coopvaert, Rotterdam
The residential tower "De Coopvaert", 104 m high, at Blaak in Rotterdam is structurally an extraordinary tower. The proximity of the monumental building of the Chamber of Commerce which is sensitive for settlement and the weight of the tower led to a choice for 60 m long vibro piles.
On the lower floors offices are situated and there is restaurant on the ground floor. Apartments are situated on the 9th till the 30th floor.
During the design phase, several variants of the main supporting structure were designed and financially calculated (steel, concrete, precast concrete).
Ultimately, the contractor opted for a traditional tunnel system.
