In the past, the music school, dance school and the public university in Zoetermeer were located in different locations. They have now been merged into one new building: the Centrum voor Kunst & Cultuur (centre for arts & culture).
In the Centrum voor Kunst & Cultuur several rooms have been designed for music lessons. Large rehearsal spaces and an auditorium have been created. The auditorium features retractable stands. Large overhangs have been realised by using concrete hollow-core slabs. The fan shape in the floors has been realised by placing in-situ concrete strips between the hollow-core slabs. The vertical load bearing structure is incorporated into the façade and the “inside façade”. Beneath the building a parking garage has been built. Another underground split-level parking garage has been realised next to the CKC.
Zonneveld ingenieurs was responsible for the design of the main bearing structure of the building.
