Leerpark Dordrecht facilitates the new approach to education and is a leader in the field of educational innovation in Holland.
Leerpark is an initiative of the Da Vinci College (MBO), the Wartburg College (VMBO), the Stedelijk Dalton Lyceum (VMBO), the Insula College (VMBO) and the Municipality of Dordrecht.
In Leerpark Dordrecht the different schools maintain their own individual identity. The schools have not fused into one massive educational factory. Their Christian and/or public identities are preserved.
The new Da Vinci College consists of seven buildings and a conference centre, all with their own identities. This small-scale structure prevents a too massive impression.
The Stedelijk Dalton Lyceum, just like the other schools, has its own 'face'. There still is, however, an important connection with the 'Samenwerkingsgebouw' (cooperation building).
The Insula College has always had a clear philosophy of life and still preserves its identity. Openness and commonality are its central themes, both in its philosophy as well as in the design of its building.
The Samenwerkingsgebouw is a combination of educational spaces for the Insula college and the Stedelijk Dalton Lyceum. Above all it is a building that allows for a flexible layout.
Finally the Sportpaleis, which is accessible for students, employees and local residents, is a striking building that consists of two stacked sports halls.
In construction the needs of the different users were emphasised. Flexibility and sustainability were also taken into account.
